Lesson 33

Memorize new vocabulary
Question Word | Meaning |
| Czym...? | What (with what, of what) |
Common Answers | Meaning |
Domem | of the house |
Pracą | of work |
Dziećmi | of children |
Studiami | of studies |

Apply it to Sentence Structure
The four words introduced today are common answers to the question: what do you do? (what are you occupied with?). These words are changed according to the Instrumental case because the verb zajmować się is followed by the Instrumental case. The Nominative forms would be as follows:
Dom – Domem
House – with house
Praca – Pracą
Work – with work
Dzieci – Dziećmi
Children – with children (this is a plural form, it will be explained later, for now just memorize it)
Studia – Studiami
Studies – with studies (also plural)
CZYM
This is a conjugated form of the question word czy and can be translated as “with what” or “of what”. We are introducing this now as it goes hand in hand with the verb zajmować się.
As was mentioned in Lesson 32, whenever a question is being asked with a verb that contains się, the się comes after the verb. It sounds better even though it does not change the meaning of the verb.
Note!
The question: czym się zajmujesz? would be used to ask about someone’s current occupation. It can be translated as: “what do you do?”
In order to put the above words into practice let’s create some logical sentences:
Czym się zajmujesz?
What are you occupied with? / What do you do?
Ja zajmuję się domem.
I am occupied with the housework. / I take care of the house.
Czym ona się zajmuje?
What is she occupied with? What does she do?
Ona zajmuje się pracą.
She is occupied with work. / She works.

Practice it!
Create logical sentences accordingly:
1. Czym / on / zajmować się?
On / zajmować się / dzieci.
2. Czym / oni / zajmować się?
Oni / zajmować się / praca.
3. Czym / ty / zajmować się?
Ja / zajmować się / dom.
