Apply it to sentence structure
We have made a lot of progress over the last 5 short lessons. The goal is for these lessons to be very practical to your language learning experience. To keep from becoming too grammatically isolated, this lesson will be focused on learning more adjectives.
You can use these new adjectives to further describe the nouns you have learned in Lesson 1.
Also, when using the colors you have learned, Polish has a unique way of describing certain objects. For example, other than just saying that something is either black, or black and white, you can also use the following construction:
Czarno-biały (blackly white)
Pomarańczowo-niebieska (orangely blue)
Zielono-żółty (greenly yellow)
Biało-czerwona (whitely red)
For example:
Polska flaga jest biało-czerwona.
- Polish flag is white and red.
Ten telewizor jest czarno-biały.
- This TV set is black and white.
Practice it!
Using the vocabulary you have learned in prior lessons, create more sentences. Be sure to use “i”, and “ale” as well as make both this and that statements.
Use your Polish skills to translate the following sentences:
1. This book is green and yellow.
2. That desk is big and brown.
3. This pencil is small and black but that pen is heavy and red.
